The Spanish Federation of Associations of Friends of the Camino de Santiago (FEAACS) has signed a cooperation agreement with The Way to Jerusalem. The purpose of this agreement is to jointly promote the cultural, social, historical, and heritage values of pilgrimage, as well as to protect and share the routes leading to Santiago and to Jerusalem, together with the initiatives developed by both organizations.
The agreement was signed last week during the FITUR International Tourism Fair in Madrid (January 21–25). The President of FEAACS, Juan Guerrero, emphasized that the partnership carries no commercial or profit-driven interest. Rather, it is rooted in a shared vision of pilgrimage routes as deeply human and spiritual experiences, embraced by communities around the world.
Guerrero added that, like FEAACS, The Way to Jerusalem recognizes the importance of safeguarding pilgrimage and the richness that surrounds it — from landscapes and nature to cultural and historical heritage.
Through conferences, seminars, joint activities, and the exchange of knowledge, the agreement seeks to highlight the significance of the routes leading to two of the world’s major pilgrimage destinations. It also aims to strengthen the relationship between these paths and the communities they cross, to ensure their preservation and safety, and to enhance the pilgrim experience while adapting these historic traditions to contemporary reality.
The collaboration will also include institutional partnerships, reciprocal visits, and mutual promotion of the initiatives carried out by both organizations
According to the President of FEAACS, the connection between the two organizations feels very natural. In their ongoing dialogue, The Way to Jerusalem has demonstrated a shared perspective — one that places education, research, and dialogue at the heart of pilgrimage, viewing it as a transformative experience that transcends geographic, cultural, and religious boundaries.
